During September - December last year, Chantal completed her PIC project as one of her main modules set at University. PIC, which stands for Practice in Context, required Chantal to organise 3 months of her time away from the University schedule, to persue her own personal practice in the subject area she was most interested in.

With endless opportunities and options, Chantal wanted to be realistic in terms of what would benefit her the most in her future career. With accomodation, transport and strong contacts, Chantal decided she would continue her practice in Falmouth, and work alongside some inspirational women who are all leading successful careers in the dance industry.

Chantal's PIC project was split in to 3 different sections:

  • Coaching for West Coast Academy

  • Assistant teaching with TeeJ Randall at Mullion School

  • Assitant choreographer for Cscape Dance Company with Sally Knight

The main focus for Chantal was to develop and establish a teaching practice within a community. Chantal acknowledged her interest in teaching and working with a variety of ages and abilities, and wanted to see if she could persue her practice in to the real world, away from University. During her 3 month project, Chantal was able to see the day to day life of working as a teacher and freelance choreographer. She was able to gain experience working within schools, an academy and with a professional performance company.

After a very successful 3 months, Chantal gained a job coaching at West Coast Academy, and made great contacts in Cscape Dance Company which may lead to potential future work.
