Complimentary Practice

Current Moment...

Chantal's journey through University has been incredible. With endless opportunities and support from those around her, she been able to excel herself further than ever imaged possible.

Throughout the three years, Chantal has gained knowledge and broadened her skills as a practitioner in performance, choreography, teaching, direction, staging, lighting, film production and health and well-being.

With continous set modules adding performance and choreographic skills, as well as theortic research, Chantal has been able to learn and grow artistically and professionally, with knowledge that will aid a strong future.

During her time at University, Chantal jumped at opportunities that would help her grow. Gaining qualifications in Cheer, Dance and Gym coaching as well as Safeguarding and Health and Safety, she has already been able to set herself in to a developing career in the professional industry.

Chantal's Practice...

During University, students have been encoruaged to find their own path of interest and practice.

For a while, this was a concept Chantal struggled with, she enjoyed all the modules and tasks during Uni which could each have led in to a more specific practice, but was unsure about where her main interest lay and how to make it her own.

It was not until Chantal completed her Teaching in Traslation module during second year, that she found something she was most passionate about. During the module, Chantal had to opportunity to create lesson plans and workshops which were then tried and tested at Penryn School.

Chantal took a huge interest in the work and interaction with children. She engaged and commited herself fully to deliever good lesson plans to children of mixed abilities and was able to watch them excel and develop through her class.

It was here that Chantal realised she would focus her attention on to teaching and delievering classes, aimed specifically at children, but also to people of mixed abilities, as she realised she wanted to be the encouragement and inspiration to others, just like her previous teachers were to her.

Future Plans...

With one door closing, it is with no doubt another will open. With 16 years of training and experience, Chantal is determined to continue studying, exploring and working professionally within the Dance Industry.

Though Chantal knows she eventually wants to end up teaching full time, primarily with young children, she is currently allowing herself a moment of freedom to explore and see what is on offer as she steps in to the world of professional dance.

Chantal has always had a strong interest in performing. Previous to her three year training in Ballet and Contemporary technique, Chantal trained intensely in Commercial Dance disicplines, and feels that this is a route she'd like to return to.

Her main goal is to run her own business, offering a range of dance and fitness classes to people of all ages and abilities. Chantal recently wrote a dissertation based on body image, and the effect this had on the growth and development of dance and fitness classes within the community, and feels its a big market she'd be passionate to go in to.
